Our Story

MYO, which stands for Make Your Own, began with a simple goal.

Founder Suzanne Carter wanted to teach her daughters the value of conscious consumption, thoughtful purchasing, and owning fewer—but better—beauty products. Frustrated by overflowing makeup drawers, unnecessary packaging waste, and products that seemed designed to create clutter rather than solve problems, she envisioned a smarter, more intentional solution.

What began as a personal project quickly evolved into something much bigger.

Suzanne developed innovative beauty organization systems that helped professional makeup artists condense, organize, and streamline their kits. By reducing weight, maximizing space, and improving efficiency, MYO’s systems helped artists remove multiple pounds from their kits, saving valuable time, space, and weight. The impact rippled throughout the professional makeup industry and quickly became a trusted staple for artists around the world.

Over the years, MYO became a globally trusted brand used behind the scenes of productions such as Emily in Paris, The Voice, Broadway shows, and international fashion weeks.

As the MYO team travelled to trade shows and industry events around the world, another challenge became impossible to ignore: travel itself.

Like many travelers, we found ourselves paying overweight baggage fees, struggling with liquid restrictions, scrambling to fit products into airport security bags, and occasionally being forced to leave behind expensive skincare products. As frequent travelers—and admittedly enthusiastic over-packers—we experienced these frustrations firsthand.

As the creators of organization solutions, we knew there had to be a better way.

When we began searching for travel containers, we were surprised by what we found. Most options were either unnecessarily heavy or made from low-quality materials that didn’t align with our standards for quality, performance, or sustainability. We couldn’t find a solution we trusted with the products we loved.

So we decided to create the solution ourselves.

Drawing on years of experience designing organization systems, we spent months rigorously testing, refining, and reimagining every detail of what luxury travel containers should be. Every component was questioned. Every detail was intentional. Every feature was designed to solve a real problem.
